Graphic Design
Often in the media, an image is needed in order to convey a specific message to a target audience. Graphic design can be used to do this. It involves a creative process, with the relationship between a client and a designer being the forefront of this process. It has many different uses in the world, and is primarily designed to enhance the transfer of knowledge.
Graphic design at work can be something as simple as a logo, but at the same time such a concept can be quite complex. A logo can carry with it significant meaning, and as such the wearer of the logo must be aware of that meaning. You can also enhance the readability of a text by improving or changing how it is presented visually, for example a text in a bright colour and slightly diagonal position on a website will be eye-catching, and denote various different things depending on the content.
There are also less corporate uses for graphic design. Something like a textbook or a set of technical schematics may not be particularly concerned with promoting a certain brand, but it is still necessary to convey a message by using an image. A book using a diagram to depict an area of the human anatomy, such as the brain or liver, uses graphic design. It is only the manner in which it is used that has changed, in this case a more scientific way as opposed to a corporate way.
